Rafael Abdo

Community Affairs Director

In the last 35 years, Rafael Abdo, has held many positions as a business and community leader, including owner and president of Abdo & Associates, advertising and public relations agency, and vice-president of the Multicultural Alliance of Entrepreneurs. In the Los Angeles political arena he participated in the promotion of the candidacy of Labastida for Mexican President, and was Coordinator of the 2000 Bush for President Campaign –Hispanic division also in Los Angeles.

In Business and Community he has held the following positions: executive director of the Ontario Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Ontario, California, executive director of the Comite Mexicano Civico Patriotico, secretary of the Mexican Hometown Associations in Los Angeles, and executive director of the Asociacion Mundial de Mexicanos en el Exterior (AMME). In AMME he was reponsible for co-organizing seven annual national conventions. The conventions were to bring together leaders of hometown Mexican organization and establish a network as well as a national agenda to meet the needs of the participating organizations that provided services to hundreds of thousand of new Mexican immigrants in need of improving their quality of life in the United States.

As part of the telecomunications industry he also has held the following positions: bilingual news production manager-Northeast L.A. Publishing Company, Buenavision Cable TV, Los Angeles, California (first Hispanic owned cable company in California), producer- news and entertainment programming for the Latino Market in the Cable TV Industry, Hollywood, California.
